Chair Yoga – Fun & Relaxing!

Another brilliant Chair Yoga session yesterday! Kirsty said she loved everything about it – and we all agree!

Here’s what we got up to:

We made calming breathing aids using pipe cleaners and beads – perfect for when we’re feeling anxious.
We used ribbons on wands for some gentle arm and shoulder stretches.
Enjoyed some lovely chair yoga movements and stretches.
A few of us even got down on the floor for some extra poses!

We ended the session with relaxing music to help us wind down. Lisa will be back with us in three weeks – and we can’t wait!

Relaxation & Movement with Chair Yoga!

This afternoon, we had a wonderful Chair Yoga session with the amazing Lisa Harwood from EchoYoga! We explored the power of sound and vibration using singing bowls – special bowls that create deep, soothing sounds when played. Some members even balanced them on their bodies to feel the vibrations travel through them!

We also enjoyed some gentle chair stretches and yoga poses, helping us improve flexibility, strength, and relaxation. To end the session, we closed our eyes, took deep breaths, and embraced a moment of calm and mindfulness with peaceful music. A big thank you to Lisa for another fantastic session – we can’t wait for the next one!

Chair Yoga with Lisa

After a busy morning yesterday, we spent the afternoon taking part in a relaxing chair yoga session led by the lovely Lisa Harwood from EchoYoga. We began by exploring different scents to help relax, energise, and unblock the sinuses, and then moved into stretches and poses like the Warrior, Double Warrior, Tree Pose, and Butterfly Fly Pose.

Yoga not only helps reduce stress and improve flexibility but also boosts focus and self-confidence – benefits that are especially valuable for adults with learning disabilities. Lisa will be back with us on April 1st, so drop us a message if you’d like to join in!

Chair Yoga

Yesterday we wrapped up our final chair yoga session for the year with the amazing Lisa. We had so much fun trying out different poses like the rock, tree, and mountain, plus many more. To test our coordination, we passed a squashie toy to each other using only our feet, which had us all giggling!

We ended the session with a soothing stretch, played relaxing music, and focused on some calming northern lights on the ceiling to wind down. These six sessions have been fantastic, and we’ve loved learning new things with Lisa. See you in the New Year, Lisa, and thank you for everything.

Halloween Yoga

Yesterday our members and volunteers had a Halloween-themed yoga session that was full of thrills and chills! We each took turns pulling a Trick or Treat from the bag, challenging us to spooky poses like:

Spider, witch on her broom, bat, ghost, and crow.

We ended this spooktacular session with a calming focus on a flickering candle, paired with relaxing music. Not only did we get a good stretch and laugh, but we also found some zen. Thank you, Lisa, for such a fun session; can’t wait for next week!

Yoga With Lisa

We had a wonderful afternoon at our yoga session yesterday! We stretched, relaxed, and even used tennis balls to give our muscles a gentle massage! The benefits of yoga are endless — improved flexibility, stress relief, and a stronger mind-body connection! Big thank you to Lisa for guiding us through a fab session! We’re already excited to see you next week to try out some new poses. Can’t wait to stretch it out again!

Chair Yoga with Lisa

Yesterday afternoon was our second session of chair yoga with the lovely Lisa Harwood, funded by the Gwent Regional Partnership Regional Integration Fund. This week, we focused on stretching exercises and used blocks to test our posture and balance. Everyone enjoyed the session and felt super relaxed afterwards. We look forward to seeing you all next week!

Chair Yoga Sessions

Yesterday afternoon, Caerphilly People First members and volunteers took part in our first chair yoga session! We practiced tree pose stretches, the cat and cow, and listened to relaxing music. We also did some stretching using chiffon scarves, making it a soothing and fun experience for everyone. Thanks, Lisa! See you next week. Everyone enjoyed the session and felt so relaxed afterward!

These sessions are kindly funded by the Regional Integrated Fund from the Gwent Regional Partnership.
