It was the perfect weather for our group walk yesterday through Bargoed Woodland Park! π³πΆββοΈπΆββοΈ Well done to everyone who joined us β it was a long one, but you all smashed it! πͺπ Lovely views, fresh air, good company, and lots of laughs along the way! ππ
Today Ffion and Nat attended TRAC online! TRAC is an exciting project with the University of South Wales π« helping to train student nurses by including the lived experiences of people with learning disabilities π¬π‘
Yesterday, staff, volunteers and members had a lovely day out at Barry Island! π We caught the train from Caerphilly π and had a nice walk along the seafront π£. Some of us went on the funfair rides π’ β our brave members tackled the dodgems, the log flume, the waltzers, and many more exciting rides! π π¦π’ We enjoyed coffee and refreshments at Marcoβs in the morning βπ°, and in the afternoon, we treated ourselves to some delicious ice cream π¦ β perfect on a sunny day! We also had fun at the penny arcade π° and bumped into some of our friends from Newbridge who also came by train! π Everyone had a great day full of fresh sea air π¬οΈ, smiles π and walking by the beach ποΈ. By the end of the day, we were tired but happy! π We canβt wait for our next seaside adventure! ππ§’π
Our members have been having loads of fun playing darts, snooker, and ping pong, thanks to a very generous donation! There have been plenty of smiles, laughter, and a few friendly competitions β our members love taking part, especially when they’re winning! ππͺπ A huge THANK YOU to the very kind person who donated the kit β it means so much and has already brought so much joy. ππ
Last week we met with Tracey Drew from All Wales People First and our friends from Swansea Self Advocacy Groups π¬π§βπ€βπ§ We talked about the big 10-year plan to make life fairer for disabled people in Wales πͺπ β We shared our thoughts on whatβs good β We said what could be better π‘ We gave ideas to help improve the plan The plan includes: π Independent living π§βπ« More training & jobs π₯ Better healthcare π Easier transport π Info in Easy Read π€ And making sure our voices are heard! We were proud to speak up and be included! ππ§‘
We hope you all had a WONDERFUL day at our Summer Fiesta! ππ The sun was shining βοΈ, the disco was buzzing πΆπΊ, and the games were packed with fun β from limbo, basketball π, to hula hoops! π₯ Everyone got involved, and even Peter the caretaker dressed up for the occasion! ππ The decorations looked amazing πΊπ, the food and ice cream were delicious πππ¦, and the dancing was fantastic ππΊ β you all brought the vibes! π Massive THANK YOU to our incredible volunteers who helped make today such a special one. Today we had our AGM β that means our Annual General Meeting. Itβs a special meeting where we talk about what weβve done over the year and make important group decisions ππ We also voted for a new Chair and Vice Chair! ππͺ Sadly, Hannah Thomas couldnβt be with us β we missed you Hannah π A HUGE congratulations toβ¦ π Natalie King β our new Chair! π Gethin Chamberlain β our new Vice Chair!
