🌟 Pride in Place – Your Voice Matters! 🌟

Today we welcomed Sarah Coombes and her team to meet with our members. 🏘️ We talked about what could be improved in Bargoed, Aberbargoed and Tredegar. πŸ“ Together we completed an easy-read survey and shared our ideas about making our communities better places to live.

πŸ’™ What is the Pride in Place Fund? The UK Government has announced a new Pride in Place plan. From 2027, Β£20 million will be invested over 10 years to help communities improve local areas. The fund will support local people to have their say and help create projects that make neighbourhoods cleaner, safer, more welcoming and better for everyone. ❀️ Together we can help make our communities even better!

🌟 Ffion delivers Easy Read Training 🌟

Yesterday morning, Ffion delivered an online Easy Read presentation to Geraint Ashton and his colleagues from Caerphilly Council. πŸ’»πŸ‘ We started with a fun icebreaker question: 🎡 “What are you looking forward to?” Many people said music concerts! 🎀🎢

Ffion talked about: πŸ“– What Easy Read is πŸ’‘ Why Easy Read is important πŸ“„ Which documents should be in Easy Read ✏️ How to create Easy Read information. Everyone took part in an activity where they changed a complicated sentence full of jargon into an Easy Read sentence. πŸ‘

Ffion did an amazing job speaking, explaining, and answering questions. We are very proud of her! πŸ’™β­ Easy Read helps make information accessible for everyone and supports people to understand important information. πŸ‘ Well done, Ffion! πŸ‘

TRAC Online Meeting

Today Ffion and Nat attended TRAC online! TRAC is an exciting project with the University of South Wales 🏫 helping to train student nurses by including the lived experiences of people with learning disabilities πŸ’¬πŸ’‘

Police Crime and Justice Plan – Easy Read Version

Yesterday, our focus group had our second meeting with Rhian, the Communication and Engagement Officer for Gwent Police’s OPCC team. We continued our discussion about the Police Crime and Justice Plan for Gwent and explored photographs for the easy-read version using photo symbols.
