Reconnect Through Music – Growing and Glowing!

Yesterday morning’s music session was a blast! Our group keeps growing every week, and we’re loving every second of it. We had so much fun singing and dancing to some absolute tunes – well done to everyone who grabbed the mic and gave it their all.

A huge thank you to Zak, Lexy, and our amazing volunteers for making these sessions so special. You’re all incredible! Can’t wait to see you all next week for more fun, music, and good vibes.

Christmas Crafts

Cracking afternoon at Caerphilly People First! We had an absolute blast yesterday making our very own Christmas crackers. With a full house and lots of festive cheer, the group was buzzing with creativity and laughter. To make our crackers extra special, we made beautiful friendship bracelets to pop inside – what a thoughtful touch. We can’t wait to see these crackers decorating everyone’s trees.

A huge thank you to Zoe for facilitating this fantastic session. Same time, same place next week – let’s keep the fun going!

Reconnect Through Cookery

What a delicious Reconnect through Cookery session on Friday! Our amazing members prepared fresh celery, peppers, mushrooms, onions, and even added grated carrots to our rich and flavourful Bolognese sauce. We served it over linguine pasta, topped with grated cheddar, and paired it with crispy garlic bread.

Everyone enjoyed the meal, and we’re thrilled to say there was no food waste. Huge thanks to all our fantastic volunteers for making the session run smoothly — you’re the best! We’re off next week but can’t wait to see you all on Friday, December 6th, when we’ll be making chilli and rice. Until then, take care and stay warm!

Reconnect Through Music

This week at Fleur-de-Lys Community Centre, we had another fantastic Reconnect Through Music session with the amazing RecRock team. Participants sang their hearts out, showcased their musical talents, and even got into the festive spirit with a few Christmas songs!

A huge thank you to our dedicated volunteers for their continued support — you make these sessions possible. We also want to give a special shoutout to Zac for his brilliant contribution this week — you were amazing! Looking forward to more music, laughter, and festive vibes in the coming weeks.

Reconnect Through Music

We had an amazing turnout with 40 people attending our recent Reconnect Through Music session yesterday. The day was filled with singing, socializing, dancing, and so much fun. Members shared fantastic feedback, saying they love the welcoming atmosphere, making friends, and especially the joy of singing and dancing. One member said, “I love dancing and singing!”

Other feedback included:

“It’s fun, people are kind!”
“The biscuits are yummy!”
“I really enjoyed my hotdogs!”

A big thank you to our wonderful volunteers, and to Zac and Lexy for making it a happy, memorable session for all. Looking forward to next time!

Gardening Group at TARAGGAN

A big thank you to our dedicated volunteers, Gethin and Rees, and our fantastic head gardener, Morgan Jones, for a chilly but productive morning at TARAGGAN Educational Gardens yesterday. Together, we transplanted leeks and Welsh onions in our eco bottle house. The cold fresh air was brisk, but working outside in the almost winter sunshine gave us all a much-needed boost.

A special shout-out to Kyle for once again giving up his time to teach and guide us—your support is truly invaluable. We’re also incredibly grateful to the National Lottery for making it possible for us to employ a valued team member for 2 hours a week; your support helps us continue this important work and makes a big difference.

Crafts

We had a very crafty early induction to Christmas at our Tuesday Crafts group this week. Due to a delay in the delivery of some craft materials, our snow shakers are now planned for next week, but that didn’t dampen our spirits. We “snow plowed” on with Christmas cards and ornaments, and wow, they turned out fantastic. Well done, everyone!

All spaces are now allocated, and we can’t wait to see you next week. Big thanks to Cheryl and Zoe for facilitating such a fun session — it was a wonderful time socializing, making friends, and learning new skills!

Reconnect Through Music

What a jam-packed Reconnect Through Music session today we had last week. We had 59 people join us for an epic day of pizza, karaoke, singing, and dancing. Chris Davies rocked the crowd with his Rick Astley vibes, Morgan brought out his inner Tom Jones, Susan channelled Kylie Minogue, and Sean threw it back with UB40 classics. The pizza was delicious, and the laughter was endless! Big thanks to Zak and Lexy for keeping the energy high and a shoutout to our amazing volunteers who made it all possible. We can’t wait to see you all next week for hot dogs, music, and more fun!

Reconnect Through Cookery

At Friday’s cookery session, we served up 70 portions of delicious corned beef hash. Our members did a fantastic job preparing fresh broccoli, cauliflower, and cabbage as sides, making it a hearty meal. Everyone looked fab in their pyjamas to support Children in Need!

We also had a special chocolate cake to celebrate our volunteer Gethin’s birthday. Some members joined a consultation with Disability Can Do and received £20 vouchers. A big congrats to Gareth on winning the raffle!

Our sessions are now full to capacity, and we’re thrilled to have raised £45 for Children in Need! Huge thanks to all the incredible volunteers for hosting quizzes, cooking, washing up, serving lunch, and setting up the hall. Special shoutout to Peter, our amazing caretaker, for opening up and coming to the rescue with extra corned beef. As always, we had zero waste!

We’re off next week, but we’ll be back on November 22nd to serve up Spaghetti Bolognese. See you then!

Chair Yoga

Yesterday we wrapped up our final chair yoga session for the year with the amazing Lisa. We had so much fun trying out different poses like the rock, tree, and mountain, plus many more. To test our coordination, we passed a squashie toy to each other using only our feet, which had us all giggling!

We ended the session with a soothing stretch, played relaxing music, and focused on some calming northern lights on the ceiling to wind down. These six sessions have been fantastic, and we’ve loved learning new things with Lisa. See you in the New Year, Lisa, and thank you for everything.
