🎡πŸ₯ Joint Reconnect Through Music & African Drumming Session 🎢✨

We had an amazing and uplifting day today at our fortnightly Reconnect Through Music session, followed by an energetic and fun one-hour African Drumming Workshop! 🌟 The singing session got off to a fantastic start with Tilly performing Beat It by Michael Jackson πŸŽ€πŸ•Ί which was followed by a series of wonderful performances from our talented members:

🎡 Amy – Rehab by Amy Winehouse
🎡 Dennis – Just the Way You Are by Bruno Mars
🎡 Sean – Don’t Bring Me Down by ELO
🎡 Chris – Hound Dog by Elvis Presley
🎡 Anthony – Build Me Up Buttercup by The Foundations

As always, the performances were met with plenty of encouragement, singing along, and smiles from everyone in attendance. πŸ˜ŠπŸ‘ During a brief break for lunch, members enjoyed delicious pizza πŸ•. A huge thank you goes to Christy and the gang stationed in the kitchen for keeping everyone well fed and ready for the afternoon’s activities! πŸ™Œβ€οΈ

Following lunch, 15 members took part in an exciting African Drumming Session led by Liz Mullins πŸ₯πŸŒ. The group learned a couple of different rhythms, including one set to the memorable phrase:

β˜• “I don’t like tea, I like coffee!” β˜•

The workshop was full of energy, laughter, and teamwork, and everyone sounded absolutely amazing drumming together in the big hall. 🎢πŸ₯βœ¨ The sense of togetherness and enjoyment throughout the session was truly special.

❀️ Olivia said the drumming session was “amazing.”
❀️ Matilda said the drumming was “an experience for her that she may never have the opportunity to do again,” adding that it would be hard to improve such a great session.
❀️ Anthony said he “loves this session, with all his friends around him.”

A huge thank you to Liz Mullins, all our fantastic volunteers, and every member who joined us for another magical, music-filled Wednesday. 🎡πŸ₯πŸŒŸ

There will be no music session in two weeks, as Caerphilly People First will be attending the All Wales People First Adfest conference in Cardiff, so our next session will be on Wednesday 8th July. We look forward to seeing everyone then!

Another Amazing Reconnect Through Music Session!

What a fantastic day with RecRock Reconnect Through Music on Wednesday β€” another full house! We sang, danced, and enjoyed some delicious hotdogs while our members blasted out some incredible tunes! It was wonderful to see new faces joining in the fun and making connections.

A huge thank you to our amazing volunteers for all your support, and well done to Belle for running such a brilliant session. We can’t wait for the next one!

Reconnect Through Music

What a fantastic day we had at our Reconnect Through Music session yesterday! We had so much fun singing and dancing, and Christy even joined Karen for a rendition of The Beatles’ β€œWith a Little Help from My Friends”. A huge shoutout to Zac and Lexy, and all our incredible members who truly blew the roof off the place! Thank you all for making it such a memorable event. See you all next week for more music and fun!

Reconnect through Music

Why is singing together important? One benefit is that it improves mental health and well-being. Whatever your skill or style of music, singing in a group can help you make new friends and bring you closer to people in a fun and joyful way. It promotes a sense of well-being which can help us all deal with our busy, complicated lives.

Yesterday our group was at Libanus Lifestyle – Wales CIC to sing some favourite songs by artists including S Club 7, Journey, Taylor Swift, the Spice Girls, Gloria Gaynor, and of course the obligatory Sweet Caroline. It’s great to see everyone enjoying themselves and supporting each other to perform in front of a big group, which can be a scary prospect.

We will be back at Libanus Lifestyle – Wales CIC next Wednesday from 10:30am if you’d like to join us.
