What a fab morning we had yesterday with our friends from Torfaen People First, recording a radio show at Able in Cwmbran. The topic? Human Rights – including our right to relationships, marriage, and friendship.
We had open and honest chats about love, what it means to us, and shared our own experiences in relationships. There were some real talk moments, plenty of learning, and of course… loads of giggles too! We even chose some top tunes to play when the show goes live on air! Can’t wait to hear it back! Big thanks to Jenny and the team – you made it a day to remember!
This morning, we wrapped up the final part of our friendship & relationship training with our amazing friends from Torfaen People First! Ffion led the session, covering contraception, identifying body parts, and discussing pregnancy tests and the different types available. We also practiced how to put on a condom and had some great discussions about sex, sex toys, and consent.
It’s been fantastic working with you all over the last few weeks! A huge congratulations to everyone who completed the training and earned their certificates!
We’ve had another fantastic morning with our friends at Torfaen People First for Week 3 of Relationship Training! Today, Ffion covered an important topic: Human Rights in Relationships & LGBTQI+ Rights.
Human Rights in Relationships:
You have the right to choose who you want to be friends with or in a relationship with. You deserve respect – no one should hurt, control, or pressure you. You have the right to say yes or no – no one can force you to do things you don’t want to. Everyone has the right to love who they want – safely & happily!
What Does LGBTQI+ Mean?
L – Lesbian (women who love women) G – Gay (men who love men) B – Bisexual (people who love both men & women) T – Transgender (people whose gender is different from birth) Q – Queer or Questioning (people exploring their identity) I – Intersex (born with a mix of male & female traits) + – Includes non-binary, pansexual & more
LGBTQI+ Rights Matter!
Everyone has the right to be themselves & love who they want. No one should be treated badly because of who they love or how they identify. Love is love, and the law protects LGBTQI+ people from discrimination. Let’s celebrate love, respect, and being our true selves! If you ever feel unsafe or treated unfairly, talk to someone you trust – you are never alone!
Yesterday, we visited Torfaen People First for the second week of our relationship course. Ffion led a fantastic session on “My Body, Understanding My Body, and Consent.” The group had great conversations and lots of interaction, making it a fun and informative session. Next week, Ffion will be covering contraception and the different types available.
Last week Ffion Poole delivered the final part of her relationship course at Oxford House. The last session focused on human rights. We discussed the barriers people face when it comes to relationships, our right to have relationships, and we also talked about fairness, equality, and respect. Well done to everyone who attended the sessions. Your input and views were great to hear, and we’ve all learned something new over the past few weeks.
Ffion was back delivering her relationship courses at Oxford house yesterday, and it was great to see everyone again after our Easter break. If anyone would like to join the session, or if you would like more information, please contact Ffion on 07488 350518.

Yesterday, Ffion Poole – supported by Christy Taylor – visited the Newport People First offices to deliver the second workshop of her relationship course. She spoke about relationships, how to meet people, and what makes a good or bad boyfriend/girlfriend. She also gave the group scenarios and asked if they pointed towards a healthy or unhealthy relationship. Ffion is looking forward to providing the third part of the course to the group.
Caerphilly People First recently held the first session in our Relationships and Sexuality course. This was run by Ffion and Lisa from Innovate Trust. During the session the group discussed what is sex, keeping yourself and others safe, sexually transmitted diseases, pregnancy, consent, and different types of contraception. Even though this can be a very sensitive topic, everyone joined in, and there was much laughter from the group. If anyone would like Ffion to provide a relationship course, please get in touch with her on 07488350518 or ffion@caerphillypeoplefirst.org
