Breakfast and Belonging

Last week marked the second get-together of our Breakfast and Belonging group, and what a lovely morning it was! We were delighted to see so many regular faces, along with friends we havenโ€™t seen for a long time. A wonderful group of twelve members came together to share good food, laughter, and conversation. The room was filled with smiles, stories, and the warm feeling of reconnecting with one another.

We tucked into a delicious spread of breakfast treats โ€” including bagels, croissants, waffles, pancakes, crepes, and fresh strawberries, helping everyone start the day off in the best possible way! The morning was all about belonging, catching up, and sharing our lives. Members chatted about what theyโ€™ve been up to, made new connections, and rekindled old ones. It was a perfect reminder of why this group exists โ€” to bring people together and start the day with positivity and friendship.

A big thank you to Cheryl for leading todayโ€™s session, and to Amy for being such a brilliant help throughout the morning. Weโ€™re already looking forward to our next Breakfast and Belonging meet-up on Tuesday, 4th November. We canโ€™t wait to see you all again for another morning of food, friendship, and fun!

Reconnect Through Music

Todayโ€™s Reconnect Through Music group was full of energy, laughter, and incredible talent. In total, our members performed an amazing 28 songs ๐ŸŽคโœจ, and each performance brought its own magic to the room. ๐ŸŒŸ

Matilda shone with her powerful rendition of Believe by Cher ๐ŸŒˆ, while Ffion and Amy teamed up for a lively performance of Rehab by Amy Winehouse ๐Ÿท. Sean had everyone smiling and moving along to My Boy Lollipop by Bad Manners ๐Ÿญ, and Ellysia wowed us with her version of Crazy by Gnarls Barkley ๐Ÿคฏ. Natalie brought a touch of pop sunshine with Flowers by Miley Cyrus ๐ŸŒธ, and Jackie gave a heartfelt performance of Back for Good by Take That ๐ŸŽถ.

As the performances flowed, everyone gathered together to enjoy a delicious hot dog lunch ๐ŸŒญ lovingly prepared by Christy, Cheryl, and Helen ๐Ÿ‘ฉโ€๐Ÿณ๐Ÿ‘ฉโ€๐Ÿณ๐Ÿ‘ฉโ€๐Ÿณ. This provided a lovely opportunity to relax and chat with friends. Weโ€™re grateful to Sharon and Libby ๐Ÿ“ for helping with the paperwork, and to Pete the caretaker ๐Ÿ› ๏ธ who made sure everything was set up and ready before we even arrived.

The feedback we received today really shows how much the group means to people. One member shared, โ€œI made more friendsโ€ ๐Ÿค, while another said, โ€œI love singing and seeing friendsโ€ ๐ŸŽต. We also heard, โ€œI wish it was every weekโ€ ๐Ÿ“…, and perhaps the best compliment of all: โ€œYou canโ€™t improve this session โ€“ I love itโ€ ๐Ÿ’–.

Overall, today was a truly joyful session filled with music, friendship, and community. Thank you to everyone who contributed to making it such a success! ๐ŸŽ‰

Learning Basic Skills – Cookery Class

Quote

Caerphilly People First are helping the people who have been allocated flats in Newbridge with basic food and hygiene and cooking skills. This Monday Fran taught them how to cook spaghetti bolognese and the group finished off with a simple banana custard for dessert. The cookery class was enjoyed by all and everybody said they were confident enough to repeat this recipe when they move into their own homes.
