After a busy morning, our latest yoga session was just what we needed! π π§ We stretched out on our mats. πͺ We did gentle movements to stretch our: 𦡠Legs π Back πͺ Arms πΏ We also enjoyed some mindfulness and relaxation. It helped us feel calm, happy, and refreshed. ποΈ
β¨ The benefits of yoga: π Helps us relax. π Reduces stress and worries. πͺ Improves strength and balance. π€Έ Helps with flexibility. π§ Supports our mental wellbeing. π€ Gives us time to connect with friends.

Yesterday afternoon our members enjoyed a relaxing yoga session outdoors in the fresh air. βοΈπ We started by using bubbles for breathing exercises, helping everyone to slow down, focus, and relax. π
Being outside allowed us to connect with nature as we enjoyed some mindfulness activities, listening carefully to the birds singing π¦ and the gentle breeze through the trees. π Gethin invited members to choose yoga pose cards, and everyone had a turn taking part in a variety of stretches and poses. π§ββοΈπ§ββοΈβ
Sessions like these are a great way to support wellbeing, reduce stress, build confidence, and spend timetime together with friends. π A big thank you to everyone who joined us today. We hope you left feeling calm, refreshed, and smiling! πβ¨
Our brand new Stretch, Connect & Belong project started yesterday at Fleur-de-lis Community Centre and will run for 10 sessions every Tuesday from 1pmβ2pm, followed by 30 minutes for a cuppa β, a chat π¬ and session feedback π β a lovely chance to connect and build friendships.
Our first session began with calming breathing and stretching exercises π¬οΈπ, followed by lots of fun as our members chose a yoga pose from the surprise bag ππ§. There were plenty of smiles and laughter π. Some members used mats, while others chose to use a chair β showing these sessions are truly accessible and inclusive for all βΏπ. For our breathing exercises we used beautiful chiffon scarves π, and we finished with a peaceful relaxation session to soothing music πΆβ¨ under soft ceiling lights, leaving everyone feeling calm, refreshed and uplifted.
Sessions like this are so important for people with learning disabilities because they help to:
π reduce anxiety and stress π improve movement, balance and flexibility π build confidence and independence π encourage social connection and friendships π reduce isolation and loneliness π support emotional wellbeing and mindfulness π create a safe, welcoming space where everyone belongs π€

As always, there was plenty of fun, laughter, and a lovely warm atmosphere at yesterday’s yoga session π Some members chose to use mats, while others were comfortable using chairs β showing that these sessions are accessible and enjoyable for everyone.
Lisa added a fun twist by using a fidget spinner to choose yoga cards with different poses, which brought lots of smiles and excitement π We also enjoyed gentle stretching with beautiful ribbons, helping us relax, move our bodies, and feel refreshed. These sessions are fantastic for exercise, relaxation, and bringing people together. Thank you to everyone who joined β what a lovely session! π«
We had another lovely afternoon with Lisa doing yoga yesterday π§ββοΈβ¨ We used yoga blocks for stretching, balance and posture, and everyone chose a block out of the bag that had a yoga pose drawn on it π¦π§ββοΈ It was lots of fun and gave everyone a chance to try something different π
We also enjoyed some relaxing time listening to soothing music πΆπ Some members like to use chairs for the session while some choose to use the mats, making the sessions very accessible so everyone can take part comfortably π

What better way to finish off a Tuesday than with a relaxing yoga session at our Stretch, Connect and Belong group with Lisa π§ββοΈπβ¨ Our members love getting stuck in and having fun together! At our most recent session we played yoga dice and chose lots of different poses including the tree π³, superman π¦Έ, dancing pose π, baby pose πΆ and many more. We enjoyed some gentle stretches, lots of giggles π, mindfulness and relaxation time with soothing music πΆ We also made beautiful calming sounds by gently tapping the singing bowl π₯£β¨ which everyone really enjoyed and found relaxing.
These sessions are very accessible for everyone π Some members choose to use chairs while others prefer using mats, allowing everyone to join in comfortably at their own pace π Everyone did an amazing job taking part and supporting one another. We finished the session with a lovely cuppa, biscuits and a chat βπͺπ Thank you Lisa for another brilliant session!
Yesterday, at our Stretch, Connect and Belong yoga session we took things nice and easy due to the heat βοΈπ§ββοΈ We enjoyed some gentle stretches, relaxation and mindfulness together. Everyone had a turn smelling different relaxing scents and talking about how they made us feel πΈππ It was lovely hearing everyoneβs thoughts and favourites!
We also had some new faces join us today which was so lovely to see πβ€οΈ We finished the session with relaxing music and a calming story during our relaxation time πΆπ Thank you everyone for another lovely afternoon. See you all next weekβ€οΈ
Another brilliant Chair Yoga session yesterday! Kirsty said she loved everything about it β and we all agree!
Hereβs what we got up to:
We made calming breathing aids using pipe cleaners and beads β perfect for when weβre feeling anxious. We used ribbons on wands for some gentle arm and shoulder stretches. Enjoyed some lovely chair yoga movements and stretches. A few of us even got down on the floor for some extra poses!
We ended the session with relaxing music to help us wind down. Lisa will be back with us in three weeks β and we canβt wait!
This afternoon, we had a wonderful Chair Yoga session with the amazing Lisa Harwood from EchoYoga! We explored the power of sound and vibration using singing bowls β special bowls that create deep, soothing sounds when played. Some members even balanced them on their bodies to feel the vibrations travel through them!
We also enjoyed some gentle chair stretches and yoga poses, helping us improve flexibility, strength, and relaxation. To end the session, we closed our eyes, took deep breaths, and embraced a moment of calm and mindfulness with peaceful music. A big thank you to Lisa for another fantastic session β we can’t wait for the next one!
After a busy morning yesterday, we spent the afternoon taking part in a relaxing chair yoga session led by the lovely Lisa Harwood from EchoYoga. We began by exploring different scents to help relax, energise, and unblock the sinuses, and then moved into stretches and poses like the Warrior, Double Warrior, Tree Pose, and Butterfly Fly Pose.
Yoga not only helps reduce stress and improve flexibility but also boosts focus and self-confidence – benefits that are especially valuable for adults with learning disabilities. Lisa will be back with us on April 1st, so drop us a message if you’d like to join in!
