It was the perfect weather for our group walk yesterday through Bargoed Woodland Park! π³πΆββοΈπΆββοΈ Well done to everyone who joined us β it was a long one, but you all smashed it! πͺπ Lovely views, fresh air, good company, and lots of laughs along the way! ππ
We hope you all had a WONDERFUL day at our Summer Fiesta! ππ The sun was shining βοΈ, the disco was buzzing πΆπΊ, and the games were packed with fun β from limbo, basketball π, to hula hoops! π₯ Everyone got involved, and even Peter the caretaker dressed up for the occasion! ππ The decorations looked amazing πΊπ, the food and ice cream were delicious πππ¦, and the dancing was fantastic ππΊ β you all brought the vibes! π Massive THANK YOU to our incredible volunteers who helped make today such a special one. Today we had our AGM β that means our Annual General Meeting. Itβs a special meeting where we talk about what weβve done over the year and make important group decisions ππ We also voted for a new Chair and Vice Chair! ππͺ Sadly, Hannah Thomas couldnβt be with us β we missed you Hannah π A HUGE congratulations toβ¦ π Natalie King β our new Chair! π Gethin Chamberlain β our new Vice Chair! Well done both of you! What a brilliant session we had last week with an amazing crowd of 30 music lovers! ππΊ We had 28 fantastic songs performed by our talented members π΅π€ β π Jade wowed us with Holiday by Madonna π Nat sang Love Me Do by The Beatles and Daniel by Elton John π Jamie, our newest member, impressed everyone with 7 Years by Lukas Graham π Libby sang Ordinary by Alex Warren so beautifully π Ffion did a fab job running the session and even blasted out a few bangers herself! πΆ

At our first July session of Reconnect Through Cookery, our amazing members got hands-on prepping onions π§ , mushrooms π, and peppers πΆοΈ to add to our delicious Mayflower chicken curry! Some preferred it plain β all served with plain or vegetable rice π and crunchy prawn crackers π¦. YUM! We had a sweet treat too β a slice of chocolate cake π° to celebrate Reeseβs birthday! ππ₯³ After lunch, we had a brilliant time playing bingo π± and testing our brains with a fun quiz π§ β big shoutout to: π Peter the caretaker for all his support π Sarah for being our bingo boss π Nat for hosting the quiz like a pro! These sessions arenβt just about food β theyβre about friendship, laughter, learning new skills, reducing isolation, and having a great time together. π¬π«π§ Thank you to our fab volunteers and members for making it all possible β youβre the heart of Reconnect π
Our focus group went on an amazing adventure through Bargoed Woodland Park, walking all the way to Fleur-de-Lys and back via Pengam Lights! πͺ The walk took us two hours and our members absolutely smashed it! ππ We were a tiny bit disappointed there were no picnic benches on route π§Ίπ’ β but that didnβt stop us! We headed back to the YMCA and enjoyed our lunch together at the office π½οΈπ while a few members made their way home for a well-earned rest. π‘ Well done everyone β what a lovely way to stay active, social, and connected! πβ¨
We had an amazing time at the All Wales People First conference in North Wales! ποΈβ¨ The hotel was lush ποΈ, the food was delicious π½οΈ, and the company was just perfect π¬π. A massive congratulations to everyone who won a Mirror Award πͺπ β so well deserved for your outstanding work and contributions across Wales πππ. The workshops were so much fun! π¨π€ π΅ We learned to sing using Makaton and other signs β and totally nailed it! ππ½πΊ The House of Deviants brought the energy with a lunchtime drag performance that had us all smiling and dancing! We loved browsing the information stalls ποΈπβ packed with great resources and freebies to take home π. And the silent disco? Absolutely EPIC! ππ§ The dance moves were on fire π₯ and the laughter was non-stop ππ. Huge thanks to all the organisers who made it such a fab two days ππ. Weβre already counting down to the next one!
