Reconnect Through Music โ€“ What a Day!

We had an absolutely brilliant session yesterday, with an incredible 27 songs performed! ๐ŸŽค๐Ÿ’ซ The energy was amazing from start to finish

It was so lovely to see Matilda again, who wowed us with songs from The Little Mermaid ๐Ÿงœโ€โ™€๏ธ and K-Pop Demon Hunters ๐ŸŽถ๐Ÿ”ฅ. Sean brought the vibes with Tears for Fears ๐ŸŽน, while Susan had everyone singing along to Living Next Door to Alice ๐Ÿšช๐ŸŽต.

We loved the duet from Ffion & Amy singing Olly Murs ๐Ÿ’•๐ŸŽค, and Chris gave us a fantastic Itโ€™s Not Unusual ๐Ÿ•บ. Anthony performed Hopelessly Devoted to You โค๏ธ, and Christine got the whole room moving with Shut Up and Dance ๐Ÿ’ƒ๐Ÿ•บ (and yesโ€ฆ many people DID dance!).

A huge thank you to everyone who shared their amazing talents ๐ŸŒŸ๐Ÿ‘ โ€” you made the session so special. The hall was packed (big thanks to Pete for setting everything up ๐Ÿ™Œ), and the delicious pizza ๐Ÿ• prepared by Christy & Zoe was a big hit!

Reconnect Through Music Session โ˜€๏ธ๐ŸŽถ

Todayโ€™s Reconnect Through Music session was a fantastic success, with a brilliant turnout on a beautiful sunny day ๐ŸŒž. The room was full, creating a lively and welcoming atmosphere as everyone came together to enjoy over 20 amazing performances from our talented members ๐ŸŽคโœจ.

We kicked off the session in style with Ellysia performing Dancing Queen by ABBA ๐Ÿ’ƒ, instantly getting everyone in the mood. Anthony kept the energy high with Higher and Higher by Jackie Wilson ๐ŸŽถ, followed by Seanโ€™s great rendition of Oh Julie by Shakinโ€™ Stevens ๐ŸŽค. Amy delivered a powerful performance of Undo by Sanna Nielsen ๐ŸŒŸ, and Kelvin brought plenty of charm with Living Doll by Cliff Richard ๐ŸŽธ. Alongside these, there were many other wonderful performances that kept the room buzzing throughout.

It was brilliant to see so many smiling faces ๐Ÿ˜Š, with members singing along, dancing ๐Ÿ’ƒ๐Ÿ•บ, and really enjoying the session together. The atmosphere was, as always, warm, inclusive, and full of positivity. We were also delighted to welcome two new members, Benjamin and Callum ๐Ÿ‘‹โ€”it was great to have you join us!

Reconnect Through Cookery ๐Ÿ

What a fantastic session we had on Friday! Our members cooked up a delicious lasagne made with 5% lean minced beef, served with fresh salad and sides. ๐Ÿฅ— Our wonderful members worked hard preparing the salad, chopping lettuce, tomatoes, onions, spring onions, cucumber and peppers. We also enjoyed peas and garlic bread with our meal. Everything tasted amazing! ๐Ÿ˜‹

A big thank you to Natalie for being our brilliant quiz master ๐Ÿง  and Sian for calling the bingo numbers ๐ŸŽฑ โ€“ lots of laughs and fun as always! Huge thanks to all our volunteers for their hard work in the kitchen ๐Ÿ‘Thank you to Anthony for sweeping the hall ๐Ÿงน and Peter the caretaker for setting up the tables for us.

The atmosphere was lovely, the food was delicious, and most importantly our members absolutely love this group and the positive impact it has on them. Sessions like this bring people together, build friendships, and help everyone learn new skills while having fun. โค๏ธ

We had another fantastic Reconnect Through Music session this morning! The room was full of energy, laughter, and brilliant performances as we sang an amazing 28 songs together. ๐ŸŽต๐Ÿ’ƒ Our members brought us a wonderful mix of classics and hidden gems, covering music from the 1950s right through to the 2020s โ€“ what a journey through the decades, and what a joy to see everyone dancing, smiling, and socialising ๐Ÿ•บ๐Ÿ“ป๐ŸŽถ It was also lovely to welcome two new members, Cheryl and Claire, to their very first session with us. We hope you both enjoyed it and felt the warm Reconnect Through Music spirit! We were treated to so many brilliant performances, including:

Reconnect Through Music

Fleur-de-Lys Community Centre was packed yesterday for our fortnightly Reconnect Through Music session, creating a fantastic atmosphere full of smiles, laughter, and socialising ๐Ÿ˜„๐Ÿ’ฌ Music once again brought everyone together, and our talented members sang an impressive total of 22 songs during the session ๐ŸŽค๐ŸŽถ

Theresa kicked things off with a heartfelt performance of โ€œNever Forgetโ€ by Take That, and Natalie soon had everyone moving and singing along with โ€œOne Loveโ€ by Bob Marley ๐ŸŒ๐ŸŽถ Ellysia followed with an energetic version of โ€œDonโ€™t Stop Me Nowโ€ by Queen, while Kelvin treated us to two songs by Cliff Richard ๐ŸŽธโœจ Wayne kept the energy high with โ€œWhoโ€™s That Girlโ€ by Madonna, and Paula and Natalie teamed up for two fantastic duets, performing songs by ABBA and The Righteous Brothers ๐Ÿ’ƒ๐ŸŽผ There were many other great performances, making the session varied and enjoyable for everyone involved ๐ŸŒŸ

We would like to say a big thank you to Cheryl and Helen for preparing a lovely lunch ๐Ÿฅช๐Ÿ’, and to Pete the caretaker for getting the centre ready for us and making sure everything ran smoothly ๐Ÿ”‘๐Ÿ‘

Reconnect Through Music โ€“ Session Report

We had a fantastic start to 2026 with our first Reconnect Through Music session of the year, and what a brilliant session it was! ๐ŸŒŸ Despite the freezing weather outside โ„๏ธ, a lovely warm and welcoming atmosphere was created by everyone who attended.

A total of 25 songs were performed by our incredibly talented members ๐ŸŽค๐ŸŽธ. The session was kicked off perfectly by Ellysia, who set the tone for the day with โ€œHappy New Yearโ€ by ABBA ๐ŸŽ‰. This was followed by many great performances, including:

At lunchtime, everyone enjoyed a perfect hot dog lunch ๐ŸŒญ, which gave people a chance to relax, chat, and socialise together.

Todayโ€™s Reconnect Through Music session was another brilliant get-together! ๐ŸŒŸ The room was filled with singing and friendship as our talented members performed an amazing 25 songs. Everyone showed confidence, enthusiasm, and joy โ€” it was a day to remember. ๐ŸŽถ๐Ÿ’ซ Every performer gave it their all, and the support from the audience made it even more special. ๐Ÿ‘๐ŸŽคโœจ

Breakfast and Belonging / Meet and Make with Multiply

โœจ What a fantastic day at Caerphilly People First! โœจ We started the morning with our Breakfast and Belonging session ๐Ÿฅโ˜• where everyone enjoyed a warm cuppa, fruit, pastries, crumpets, and a good chat.

This was followed by our very first craft session delivered by Deb and Louise from Multiply ๐ŸŽจโœ‚๏ธ Our Meet and Make with Multiply sessions will run for the next six weeks with two groups:

Today everyone enrolled and introduced themselves. The theme was to pick someone in the room and draw a portrait of them! ๐Ÿ–ผ๏ธ๐Ÿ‘€

Both our morning and afternoon members did an amazing job โ€” and there were plenty of giggles with a fun game of โ€œGuess Who?โ€ once we revealed the finished portraits! ๐Ÿ˜‚๐ŸŽญ ๐Ÿ“ธ Check out our designs below and see if you can guess whoโ€™s who! What a fantastic day we had at todayโ€™s Reconnect Through Music session! Over 40 people joined us to enjoy great singing, friendship, and a delicious pizza lunch. ๐Ÿ’ƒ๐Ÿ•บ๐Ÿ• The room was filled with music and smiles from start to finish.

โœจ Ellysia set the festive mood by singing the first Christmas songs of the year โ€“ it might be early, but we all loved it! ๐ŸŽ„
๐Ÿ’‹ Natalie rocked the room with her version of Leader of the Pack by The Shangri-Las.
๐Ÿ‘‘ Elizabeth got everyone singing along and swaying to Dancing Queen by ABBA.
๐ŸŽญ Matilda brought Broadway energy with a song from Hairspray the Musical.
๐Ÿ’ž Anthony melted hearts with a beautiful rendition of Perfect by Ed Sheeran.
๐Ÿš— Sean made us all smile with Driving in My Car by Madness.
๐ŸŽค Finally, Ffion and Amy closed the performances perfectly with Stuck on You by Lionel Richie โ€“ a lovely duet to end on!

While we enjoyed the performances, we tucked into a tasty pizza lunch, prepared by Christy and Helen โ€“ thank you both for the delicious food! ๐Ÿ‘ฉโ€๐Ÿณ๐Ÿ‘ A huge shoutout also goes to Pete the caretaker for setting everything up so smoothly ๐Ÿ› ๏ธ, and to Sharon for keeping track of the paperwork ๐Ÿ“‹.

Todayโ€™s Reconnect Through Music group was full of energy, laughter, and incredible talent. In total, our members performed an amazing 28 songs ๐ŸŽคโœจ, and each performance brought its own magic to the room. ๐ŸŒŸ

Matilda shone with her powerful rendition of Believe by Cher ๐ŸŒˆ, while Ffion and Amy teamed up for a lively performance of Rehab by Amy Winehouse ๐Ÿท. Sean had everyone smiling and moving along to My Boy Lollipop by Bad Manners ๐Ÿญ, and Ellysia wowed us with her version of Crazy by Gnarls Barkley ๐Ÿคฏ. Natalie brought a touch of pop sunshine with Flowers by Miley Cyrus ๐ŸŒธ, and Jackie gave a heartfelt performance of Back for Good by Take That ๐ŸŽถ.

As the performances flowed, everyone gathered together to enjoy a delicious hot dog lunch ๐ŸŒญ lovingly prepared by Christy, Cheryl, and Helen ๐Ÿ‘ฉโ€๐Ÿณ๐Ÿ‘ฉโ€๐Ÿณ๐Ÿ‘ฉโ€๐Ÿณ. This provided a lovely opportunity to relax and chat with friends. Weโ€™re grateful to Sharon and Libby ๐Ÿ“ for helping with the paperwork, and to Pete the caretaker ๐Ÿ› ๏ธ who made sure everything was set up and ready before we even arrived.

The feedback we received today really shows how much the group means to people. One member shared, โ€œI made more friendsโ€ ๐Ÿค, while another said, โ€œI love singing and seeing friendsโ€ ๐ŸŽต. We also heard, โ€œI wish it was every weekโ€ ๐Ÿ“…, and perhaps the best compliment of all: โ€œYou canโ€™t improve this session โ€“ I love itโ€ ๐Ÿ’–.

Overall, today was a truly joyful session filled with music, friendship, and community. Thank you to everyone who contributed to making it such a success! ๐ŸŽ‰
